How to check a Curaçao casino licence

To check a Curaçao casino licence, identify the operator in the casino’s terms, find its official record, and compare the website, licence scope, status and dates. This guide walks through the process, explains incomplete results and shows why UK eligibility needs a separate check.

Follow the licence check
The key point

Keep five details together: the exact domain, legal company, licence reference, recorded status and evidence date. A matching company name is useful progress; it does not complete the check.

01 / Identify the operator

Step 1: identify the casino and operating company

Start with the casino you are actually viewing. Open its general terms and footer, then note the legal company said to operate the service. A brand is the name on the front of the website; the contracting company may have a different name entirely. Copy any company registration number alongside it.

Write down the final domain in your browser after redirects have finished. Keep the full page address in your notes so you can return to the disclosure. A different domain ending is worth investigating even when the logo and page design look familiar. Do not silently substitute an address found in an old review.

Build a short identity record before searching
DetailWhat to capture
Casino websiteExact domain, final destination after a redirect, and the terms-page address.
Legal operatorCompany name and registration number, exactly as disclosed.
Licence claimNamed regulator, licence reference and the certificate link, if supplied.
DatesTerms version or update date, plus the date you made your own check.

Keep payment agents and software suppliers in separate fields. If the footer names one business for payments and another as the operator, those roles should not be collapsed into a single owner. Our Licences hub brings together company profiles that explain documented relationships and their limits.

If the terms and footer disagree, preserve both versions. You already have a useful finding: the casino’s own documents need reconciling. Searching for whichever company produces a reassuring result would conceal the problem rather than solve it.

02 / Find the official record

Step 2: find the official Curaçao licence record

Open the Curaçao Gaming Authority’s licence register separately from the casino. From that official index, use the online gaming licence list. At our check on 29 September 2026, it linked to a company register dated 21 September. The index is a better starting point for future checks than assuming that this particular PDF will remain the latest version.

Search the document for the exact legal name, registration number or licence reference. In a PDF reader, the find function can help locate the entry. Once found, read the whole row and its column headings. A search result showing the name alone can hide the status or a qualification in another column.

Choose the right record for the question

The index also links to an enforcement register and a separate certificate-holder list. These serve different purposes. The certificate list inspected for this guide covers testing laboratories and alternative dispute-resolution services under article 5.17 of the LOK. It is not a list validating every casino website bearing a seal.

The enforcement overview describes actions affecting licence status and says it does not include all enforcement measures. It also cautions about accuracy and currency. Check relevant entries, but do not turn an unsuccessful search into a statement that a business has never faced regulatory action.

03 / Match domain and scope

Step 3: match the domain and licensed activity

Now compare the casino’s claim with the official material. The legal name, company number and licence reference should identify the same entity. Where a domain record or official validation page is available, examine the website address and the activity covered as well.

Follow a casino’s certificate link only as one part of that check. Read the final destination in the address bar. A page carrying a regulator’s logo could still be an image, an old copy or a record for another company. A padlock means the connection is encrypted; it does not establish the gambling permission being claimed.

A registered company can be associated with more than one website, but that does not mean a record for one domain verifies all of them. If the document supplies no domain field, say that the company entry was found and domain coverage remains unconfirmed. Do not invent a match from shared branding.

Check what the permission is for. A supplier and the business contracting with players can have separate roles. Finding a software supplier in a register does not fill a missing operator record. Equally, a permission for one gambling activity should not be casually extended to another without reading its scope.

This is where a licence check often becomes incomplete. That can be frustrating, but a precise partial result is more useful than a broad “verified” label that leaves out the missing website connection.

04 / Read status and dates

Step 4: read the status and dates together

Copy the status as it is published before interpreting it. A licence reference identifies a record; it is not the status of that record. Read any restrictions, qualifications or separate official updates that could affect the conclusion.

Three dates that should never be merged
DateWhat it tells you
Document publication dateWhen this version of the register or notice was issued.
Issue and expiry fieldsThe dates the document attributes to the particular permission. Read them with its stated status.
Your check dateWhen you inspected the material. It does not make an older document newly issued.

Keep the licence category alongside those fields. The company examples below have B2C entries. A different category or activity description needs its own reading; matching a number without checking the type of permission can give the wrong impression.

The CGA explicitly says its company overviews do not guarantee present licence validity. That qualification belongs in the result. An indefinite term also needs continued attention to status and scope; it is not a reason to stop checking later records.

If dates and status seem inconsistent, do not choose whichever field gives the answer you expected. Preserve the discrepancy and look for an official explanation or newer record. The Altacore example below shows why a past expiry field should not automatically replace the status actually printed beside it.

05 / Worked examples

Worked examples: Dama and Altacore

These entries come from the CGA register dated 21 September 2026, checked on 29 September. They illustrate how to read company records. Neither example establishes current approval of a particular casino domain.

Dated company entries: CGA register, pages 19 and 21
CompanyFields recorded in the register
Dama N.V. · entry 548Registration 152125; B2C; OGL/2023/174/0082. Issue: 24 December 2025. Expiry: N/A. Status: Indefinite.
Altacore N.V. · entry 588Registration 151002; B2C; OGL/2023/109/0075. Issue: 24 June 2025. Expiry: 24 December 2025. Status: Assessment in progress.

For Dama, report the recorded indefinite term while keeping domain verification separate. For Altacore, retain both the past expiry field and the assessment status; the row does not justify silently changing the result to active, expired or revoked. Our Dama profile and Altacore profile explain the wider company evidence.

A fictional domain mismatch

Suppose Harbour Example Casino names Example Gaming Limited in its terms. You find an official company record, but the domain evidence you inspect lists harbour-example.test while your browser is on harbour-example-casino.test. Both names are fictional. The extra word matters: you have not established permission for the website you are viewing.

That conclusion says what was found and what remains missing. It neither clears the whole casino nor alleges that the company has no permission anywhere.

06 / Old records and redirects

Older licence numbers, changed operators and redirects

Older reviews and casino footers can contain master-licence or sublicence references from an earlier framework. The CGA dates the LOK’s entry into effect to 24 December 2024 and explains that transitional provisions also matter. An old reference needs historical context and a fresh check; its format alone does not settle today’s position.

Look for a dated explanation when a casino starts naming another operator. Preserve the older terms if the question concerns an earlier account or transaction. New terms may identify the present contracting party without explaining precisely when responsibilities changed or what happened to existing balances.

A browser redirect is similarly limited evidence. It shows where the browser went. It does not establish a licence transfer, a company takeover or the migration of a customer’s account. Repeat the identity and domain checks for the destination, then look for the operator’s explanation of the change.

Our casino reviews retain brand-specific findings separately. Use their dates to understand what was examined, then return to the original documents when checking a newer claim. An article’s recent design update should never stand in for a new regulatory observation.

07 / Incomplete checks

What to do when a check is incomplete

A failed check needs a reason, not a guess. Distinguish a website that would not load from a successful search that found the company but not the domain. Those findings call for different follow-up questions.

Turn a problem into a specific follow-up
What you foundWhat to do next
Certificate link is unavailableRecord the address and date; check the regulator’s published availability notices and alternative official records.
Company names disagreeKeep both disclosures and ask which legal entity contracts with the account, including its registration number.
Company exists but domain is missingAsk for the official record covering that exact domain. Retain the company match as a partial result.
Dates conflict or status is unclearKeep the wording and dates together. Look for a newer official record or an explanation of the discrepancy.
Search finds no matching entryCheck spelling, reference and the correct register. Describe the bounded search; do not claim an exhaustive absence of authorisation.

Use the operator’s documented support route for its own disclosures and the regulator’s published contact route for questions about official records. A support reply explaining a mismatch is useful to retain, but it is still an operator statement until the claimed official connection can be checked.

You should not need to deposit money to examine public licensing information. Avoid treating a small successful payment, a friendly support exchange or access to a sign-up form as a substitute for the missing record.

08 / The separate UK check

The separate UK licence and eligibility check

For a reader in Great Britain, a Curaçao licence check leaves a separate regulatory question. The Gambling Commission states that businesses providing remote casino services to consumers in Great Britain need the relevant permission from it, wherever the business is based. A Curaçao record does not satisfy that requirement.

Use the Gambling Commission business register to search by legal business name, trading name, domain or account number. Read the licence status, activities and relevant website details. Finding a business name is only the start of the British check as well.

The register explains that businesses supply their domain and trading-name information and that the Commission cannot guarantee third-party data accuracy. Preserve any disagreement with the casino’s terms instead of letting a search result overrule it without investigation.

Great Britain means England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland has a different regulatory position; the Commission describes particular remote-operator licensing requirements there while distinguishing its regulatory and enforcement remit. Our Curaçao licence vs UKGC article examines the wider differences.

Read the casino’s restricted-country terms separately. A currency selector, English copy or accessible registration page cannot establish your eligibility. If a service restricts your location, another domain or connection method does not resolve the underlying restriction.

09 / Record your result

Record your result: a reusable licence-check checklist

Keep a short record that someone else could follow. A saved screenshot is useful, but retain the source address and document date too. An image cropped to a company name can leave out the status column that changes its meaning.

  • Exact website and terms-page address, including any redirect destination.
  • Legal operator, company number and licence reference claimed by the casino.
  • Official source address, document title, publication date and relevant row or page.
  • Licence type, activity, status, issue/expiry fields and any qualification.
  • Whether the exact domain and applicable territory were established, and by which record.
  • Date of your check, unresolved differences and the next clarification needed.

Keep the result in plain language. “Company found; domain unconfirmed” is more useful than a green tick with no explanation. If all the relevant fields match, say which records matched and when. Avoid expanding that into a promise about customer service or a later withdrawal.

Revisit the record when the company, domain or licensing claim changes, and before relying on a much older observation. There is no universal interval that makes every saved check current. What matters is whether the evidence still answers the specific question you are using it for.

10 / What the check establishes

What a licence check does and does not establish

A completed documentary check connects a particular website and business to the regulatory material examined, within that material’s scope and date. It is one part of assessing a casino. It does not measure how well the operator will handle your account.

Payment timings and conditions require separate reading. Our withdrawal guide distinguishes processing from receipt, while the bonus conditions guide explains wagering and promotional restrictions. A matching licence cannot fill in an unpublished limit or settle contradictory offer terms.

Complaint routes also need their own check. The CGA says it does not mediate individual player disputes or order compensation, although reports can inform supervision. If a casino names an independent dispute service, establish that service’s role and whether it covers the operator and issue; a licence alone does not answer those questions.

If your concern is controlling gambling, you do not need to finish company research before seeking help. Our responsible gambling information provides a separate starting point. Neither a successful licence check nor a familiar operator removes the possibility of losing money.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check a Curaçao casino licence?

Identify the legal operator and exact domain, then use the CGA’s official register index to locate the relevant record. Compare the company number, licence reference, category, status and dates. Establish domain coverage separately where the company list does not supply it, and retain the date and limits of your check.

Is a licence badge in the footer enough?

No. A badge can be copied or point to an unrelated or older record. Follow the destination, check that it is an official source and compare the named company and domain. The appearance of a seal does not perform those checks.

What does “Assessment in progress” mean for my check?

Retain it as the status recorded in that source. It does not let you replace the entry with an active, expired or revoked label of your own. Read the accompanying dates and qualifications, and seek a current official explanation before drawing a stronger conclusion.

Can I verify a casino if the company appears but its domain does not?

You can report the company match. You have not completed the website connection unless other appropriate official evidence establishes that exact domain. Ask for that evidence and preserve the missing link in your conclusion.

What should I do with an old licence number or broken certificate link?

Record the reference or failed address with the date, then check current official publications and availability notices. Older references need historical context; an unavailable service is a retrieval limit. Neither observation alone proves the casino’s present licence status.

Does a Curaçao licence mean a casino can serve UK residents?

It does not establish that. Great Britain requires a separate check of the relevant Gambling Commission permission, and Northern Ireland has a different regulatory context. The casino’s own country restrictions also need reading. An accessible site or sterling balance option cannot settle those questions.
